Cobra Subsidy Extended Until May 31st


President Barack Obama signed legislation April 15th extending extra
unemployment benefits through May 31st, including subsidies to help laid-off employees buy health insurance
under COBRA rules

Involuntarily terminated employees are eligible for COBRA premium assistance under this Act.
This extension is retroactive for individuals involuntarily terminated prior to its signing.

Employers are required to inform all eligible employees of their rights to elect COBRA coverage
at the subsidized rates.

Employers are encouraged to update all COBRA notifications to reflect the extended date of
May 31, 2010.
